Job description

Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences

This full-time, UKRI funded post is available from 1 October 2022 to 1 August 2024 the University of Exeter Law School (with possible extension for up to an additional three years).

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

The post

You will work with Dr Rebecca K. Helm in a new evidence-based research centre in the University of Exeter Law School.

The post will involve research in empirical law and psychology and law, primarily on a project examining memory and testimony evaluation in legal contexts. This research will utilise a range of techniques including normative legal research, empirical research, and behavioural and neuroimaging experimental work. In addition to conducting research, the successful candidate will contribute to the writing of books, papers, and articles, present work at national and international conferences, and contribute to seminars or other events associated with the project.

About you

The successful applicant will:

possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study

have an interest in psychology and law and empirical law

be able to develop research objectives and make presentations at conferences and other events

able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required

be able to conduct experimental work, and some knowledge of empirical research methods or neuroimaging research methods is desired
