澳大利亚科廷科技大学2022年招聘博士后职位(杀菌剂抗性机制)

Research Associate / Research Fellow

Curtin University of Technology

Description

An exciting opportunity exists for a research associate/fellow with an interest in characterising fungicide resistance populations and genetic mechanisms leading to resistance. Part of your role will be to use a range of contemporary molecular biology tools to characterise fungicide resistance in diverse fungal pathogen species and contribute to the analysis of resistance frequency in fungal progenies and samples.

You will communicate with a broad scientific team including plant geneticists, molecular biologists, plant pathologists and bioinformaticians and support staff and co-supervise students in aspects of molecular plant pathology. You will also interact with industry stakeholders and will be expected to adapt the communication of your research based on the target audience.

Further, you will contribute to the characterisation of fungicide resistance mechanisms and develop reliable diagnostic genetic markers for high throughput monitoring of fungicide resistance in key fungicide modes of action (i.e., DMI and SDHI) using qPCR and ddPCR. You will be expected to be able to optimise diagnostic protocols and transfer them between analysis platforms.

You will use population genetics to study fungal diversity in landscape analyses under different fungicide selection scenarios. You will also use transcriptomic analyses to determine expression patterns of group of genes of interest.

Please note that you will require working rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role. Visa sponsorship and relocation support may be considered for the preferred candidate.

To learn more about this opportunity, please contact Associate Professor Fran Lopez-Ruiz by email fran.lopezruiz@curtin.edu.au or on +61 08 9266 3061.

About Us

The Centre for Crop Disease Management (CCDM) is co-supported by Curtin University and a flagship of the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), with a broad focus on providing solutions to Australian Farmers to combat major pathogens of wheat, barley, canola, and pulses. With a large team of more than 70 staff focused on molecular plant pathology and agronomy, the CCDM has an established track-record of involvement with GRDC-funded projects which have successfully produced resources for reducing the economic impact of crop diseases. CCDM uses a multidisciplinary field, in vitro and molecular approach to gain a better understanding of the genetic mechanisms underpinning fungicide resistance, the development of diagnostic tools to detect it, and the development of informed management practices.

Curtin University offers a competitive remuneration and benefits package, a friendly and collaborative work environment, generous leave entitlements, flexible working arrangements, generous superannuation, and salary-packaging. Our vibrant campus also includes an art gallery, gym, childcare, medical centre, and endless food options.
