Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Bioinformatics

The Talhouk Research Laboratory invites applications for a Computational Postdoc in bioinformatics under the supervision of Dr. Aline Talhouk. The successful candidate will join a team of biological data scientists and clinical informaticians working on novel statistical methods and computational algorithms for multi-omics processing and integration, and to leverage multi-omics data to improve the diagnosis of endometrial cancer. This position is located in Vancouver, British Columbia. The expected start date is January 2023.

The UBC Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology has training programs at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels, and pursues research to make innovative advancements in knowledge and translate it to practice to improve health. The Department consists of more than 300 physicians and scientists as well as over 50 administrative, research, and technical staff. Specialty training programs are offered in gynaecologic oncology, maternal fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, as well as advanced training programs in endometriosis, pelvic pain and advanced laparoscopic surgery, family planning, vulvovaginal health and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.

Position Requirements:

◦Ph.D. level degree in the quantitative or biological sciences.

◦Passion for quantitative biology, computational genomics, data analysis and algorithmics.

◦Willingness to collaborate with world-renowned experimental labs.

Desired skills and experience:

◦Experience in scientific programming (C/C++, Python, R); proficiency in Linux.

◦Expertise in scientific data visualization (Python, R).

◦Expertise with machine learning and advanced artificial intelligence (various deep neural network architectures)

◦Prior experience with the next-generation sequencing technologies.

◦Prior experience with image analysis and reinforcement learning is an asset

◦Experience in bioinformatics analysis of multi-omics data is an asset.
